Why create a blog?

Today we received a new book we had ordered, "Seven Days in Haiti" by Michael Barrick. Even the introduction and forward will take your breath away and touch you to the core. As we read portions aloud after supper, we realized something about this whole experience of adopting from Haiti. Each step seems to take forever...but then amazingly passes so quickly. We are changing as individuals and as a family. We are learning and growing exponentially more each day, yet we have not been documenting the journey.

Up until now, we had decided to share pictures and stories with friends and family, but to keep our experience more personal otherwise. The truth is that without the information and experiences we have read from other families' adoptions from Haiti, we would be lost! Or, at least, we would be much more uneasy about the process. More importantly, we would be missing the joy in each step of the process. Knowing that others have been there and now have their children safe at home brings so much hope.

So, over the next few days and weeks, we hope to share parts of our journey. This is not just for those hoping to adopt or for those wanting to follow our adventure. It is to inspire each reader to find a similar "adventure" or way to profoundly change a life....minimally, their own.
